Initial Fertility Tests

Why Initial Fertility Tests Are Important

Early fertility tests are particularly important during the IVF process. It is possible that the fertility expert teams will be able to make an informed decision about the optimal course of care because they have useful information on the reproductive health status of both partners. It will be feasible to develop a treatment plan based on the specific needs of the patients with the greatest chance of a successful pregnancy if the clinic is aware of the real causes of infertility.

What to Expect During the Testing Process

When it comes to fertility testing, non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures are typically the first line of treatment. The purpose of simulating these tests is to provide as much information as possible about the reproductive system in order to eventually identify any potential barriers to pregnancy. The route of treatment will probably involve a compassionate physical examination, imaging study, and various RBC counts.

Preparing for Fertility Tests

Timing of Tests

For a consistent and properly transferable test result, the timing of fertility testing should match the subject’s ovulation status and cycle phase. The pair will receive training from the fertility specialist on how to correctly conduct the testing and advise on the appropriate timing based on each patient’s needs.

Lifestyle Factors Affecting Fertility

Fertility may be impacted by a number of lifestyle choices, including diet, exercise, stress, and exposure to toxins in the environment. A fertility specialist can provide advice on changes in lifestyle that can improve the likelihood of getting pregnant.

Understanding the Results

When all other alternatives for therapy with intrauterine insemination (IUI) or fertility medications have been exhausted, IVF and ICSI are typically recommended. These cutting-edge treatments might also be the initial line of treatment for a number of fertility problems, including advanced maternal age, male factor infertility, or specific genetic disorders.

Discussing Treatment Options with Your Doctor

After completing our Fertility Assessment, our fertility specialist will describe a range of methods, including the medication, the treatment method, the actual surgery, and assisted reproduction methods like IVF. Should the couple’s particular requirements and preferences be beneficial to the treatment, we are always happy to create a treatment plan that fits perfectly into our patients’ lives.

Conclusion

Fertility tests are the first steps in the process of in vitro fertilization (IVF). Without a doubt, if it turns out to be true that the specific causes of infertility in a couple can be identified, then a patient or pair may have a primed IVF therapy tailored to their individual needs. Our clinic’s reproductive medicine staff is committed to provide you with compassionate, knowledgeable, and up-to-date reproductive medicine care throughout this process. Suitable Candidates

Potential patients in the early stages of comparing clinics, looking for a trustworthy and transparent guide for the complex journey ahead

Individuals already aware of a potential fertility barrier (like age or a condition like PCOS) who need a formal diagnosis to plan their next steps

Proactive couples seeking clear medical answers after months of trying to conceive without success

Treatment Process

1. Initial Interview and Assessment

Before beginning treatment, a comprehensive consultation is conducted with the couple to evaluate their medical background and reproductive health. This includes recording medical history, performing necessary blood tests, ultrasound examinations, and imaging studies such as a hysterosalpingogram (HSG). During this stage, detailed information about the treatment process and expected outcomes is also provided. The main objective is to identify the most suitable and personalized treatment protocol for the couple’s specific needs.

2. Ovarian Stimulation (Drug Therapy)

During this phase, the intended mother’s ovaries are gently stimulated with hormone therapy for about 12 to 14 days to encourage the growth of multiple eggs. The process involves daily, painless subcutaneous injections, while progress is closely monitored through regular ultrasound scans and hormone level tests. Once the eggs reach the desired level of maturity, a trigger injection is administered to prepare them for retrieval.

3. Egg Collection (OPU)

When the follicles reach the appropriate size to produce eggs, based on ultrasound monitoring and blood tests the trigger shot is applied and the eggs are collected 36 hours later under a mild anesthesia which is called sedation with a very tiny needle using a tranvaginal ultrasound guidance. Sperm sample is collected from the prospective father with ejaculation on the same day.

4. Laboratory Process – Fertilization

The collected eggs are fertilized in the embryology laboratory using the ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) method. The embryos are then cultured in specialized incubators and closely monitored for their development. The patient is updated on embryo progress on days 1, 3, and 5. On day 5, the highest-quality embryo or embryos are selected for transfer to ensure the best chance of success.

5. Embryo Transfer

Embryo transfer is a painless procedure that does not require anesthesia. The selected embryo is carefully placed into the uterus using a thin, flexible catheter that passes easily through the cervix under ultrasound guidance. After the transfer, patients can safely travel by plane with no associated risks.

EGG DONATION

When egg donation is recommended based on fertility test results, a suitable donor is carefully selected. The prospective mother’s uterine lining is prepared simultaneously while the donor undergoes ovarian stimulation.

Egg Collection and Fertilization

The donor’s eggs are retrieved and fertilized with the partner’s sperm in the embryology laboratory.

Embryo Transfer

From the resulting embryos, the highest-quality ones that develop to day 5 and have the greatest potential for implantation are selected and transferred into the prospective mother’s uterus.

What is the process for using a donor and what information is provided?

For patients requiring an egg or sperm donor, we have a comprehensive and carefully managed donor programme. The process is governed by strict local regulations that ensure complete donor anonymity.

Our donors undergo rigorous screening, including extensive medical, genetic, and psychological evaluations, to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety. While the donor's identity remains anonymous, you will be provided with a detailed, non-identifying profile which typically includes:

  • Age and physical characteristics (hair/eye colour, height, build)
  • Blood type
  • Nationality and educational background
  • Profession and personal interests/hobbies

This allows you to choose a donor with characteristics that are important to you while respecting the legal framework of anonymity.

How do you manage treatment for international patients travelling to North Cyprus?

We specialize in making the process seamless for our international patients. Your journey is managed by a dedicated International Patient Coordinator who will be your single point of contact.

After your initial consultation, we will create your bespoke treatment plan.

We offer two flexible pathways for our patients travelling from abroad.

1. The Coordinated Pathway (1-Week Stay in Cyprus)

For your convenience, you can begin the initial stages of your treatment at home. We will coordinate with a UK-based clinic for your preliminary scans and tests. You then travel to Cyprus to complete the final stages, requiring a stay of as little as one week for your key procedures. This option is popular as it minimizes your time away from home.

2. The Immersive Pathway (3-Week Stay in Cyprus)

Alternatively, you can choose to undertake your entire treatment cycle with us in Cyprus. This allows you to step away from daily routines and relax in our calm, supportive environment. This all-inclusive pathway typically requires a stay of approximately three weeks.

Whichever pathway you choose, your coordinator will assist with planning your trip, providing recommendations for premium accommodation and organizing private airport transfers. Our goal is to manage all the logistics, allowing you to focus completely on your treatment in a calm, stress-free environment.

This is often the first and most important question we receive. While we are proud of our excellent success rates, which are in line with top European clinics, we believe in providing you with a transparent and realistic perspective. This is based on your specific age, medical history, and diagnosis.

Our success is built upon the expertise of our world-class clinicians and embryologists, who utilize state-of-the-art laboratory technology, including AI-driven embryo selection. We are committed to ethical and transparent reporting, ensuring you have the confidence and clarity you need to make an informed decision.
